About

Woodland Connections is a collaboration between Shining Cliff Centre CIC and woodland practitioners Bonnie, Kyla and Kate.

Working primarily in the ancient woodland of Shining Cliff Woods, and also in Shaw Woods, Oakerthorpe, we offer nature-based experiences that support wellbeing, connection and confidence for people of all ages.

Shining Cliff Centre CIC is a community interest company that runs Shining Cliff Hostel and the Beech Hut, situated in the heart of Shining Cliff woods.Alongside this, Bonnie, Kyla and Kate are trained and experienced woodland practitioners, with backgrounds in Forest School, Forest Bathing and creative woodland practice. Together, we design and deliver sessions that are inclusive, thoughtful and responsive to those who attend.

We run:

  • Children’s woodland sessions throughout the year and during school holidays
  • Woodland sessions for adults
  • Family sessions
  • Bespoke sessions for small groups, schools and organisations

All our sessions are shaped by the natural rhythms of the woodland and a shared ethos of slowing down, noticing, and reconnecting — with nature, with others and with ourselves.

What People Say

‘Loved exploring everywhere in the woods whilst looking for dragons and fairies, I enjoyed the yummy hot chocolate and crafts in the hut at Christmas’

‘Me and my daughter attended a special Halloween event, we both enjoyed it so much. It was lovely to have the choice on what to do and hope to attend more special events in the future’

‘It was so interesting listening to, and focussing on all outdoor sounds in such a purposeful way. I absolutely felt calmer and more connected to the space around me, the sounds, textures and myself within it’
